Welcome — we're so grateful you're here.
Whether you landed on our site because you know us personally, followed a link out of curiosity, or because you or someone you love is navigating life after a traumatic brain injury — we want you to know this: you are not alone. No matter where you are in the journey, we’re here to support, guide, and walk alongside you.
Our story began on December 22, 2022 — a night that changed our lives forever. Our youngest daughter, just four years old at the time, was out looking at Christmas lights with her dad and two of her brothers when she was struck by a vehicle.
In the midst of chaos and heartbreak, we witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of grace and support. A nearby physician rushed to her side and began CPR. First responders, police officers, detectives, and the brave individuals we now lovingly call Addi’s Fire Angels became part of the team that fought for her life. Her medical team — heroes in every sense — never gave up, even when the odds were devastatingly low.
Addi was given a 0.07% chance of survival. Her injuries were critical — a fractured skull, a displaced C1 and C2 (considered a broken neck in older children and adults), and a Grade 3 Diffuse Axonal Injury, one of the most severe forms of traumatic brain injury.
And yet... Addi survived. She defied every expectation, every diagnosis, and every statistic.
Her story is living proof that miracles happen, that faith can be fierce, and that love — from family, friends, first responders, and strangers — can move mountains.
When something this life-altering happens, you never feel prepared. The world slows down, everything becomes a blur, and you're left overwhelmed, disoriented, and afraid. As a parent, it's an indescribable kind of helplessness.
Now, nearly two years into this journey, we’ve seen firsthand what others go through. We’ve connected with countless families through support groups and social media, and we've noticed the same pattern: the initial shock, the darkness, the endless questions. The frustration of not knowing who to call, what to ask, or where to begin. The reality that life will never look the same — and trying to figure out what that even means.
That uncertainty is what drove us to act.
When we began learning more — about the statistics surrounding pedestrian accidents, distracted driving, and the lack of awareness and support for survivors of traumatic brain injury — we knew we had to do something. That’s how Addi's Miracle TBI Advocacy & Pedestrian Awareness and Survivors Against Distracted Driving were born.
Our mission is simple but deeply personal:
To be a voice for those who can’t speak, a hand to hold in moments of crisis, and a beacon of hope for families navigating the unknown.
If you’re here, and you need support, resources, or just someone to listen — please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here for you. You don’t have to walk this road alone.
With compassion and hope,
Katie & The Advocacy Team
